The Nightshade grade narrows that field to Ice Cap, Supersonic Red, and Midnight Black Metallic.

The 2027 Dodge Durango palette reaches 10 colors after the addition of Smokescreen: After Dark, Redeye, B5 Blue, Destroyer Grey, Green Machine, Night Moves, Pitch Black, Red Oxide, Smokescreen, and White Knuckle. Dodge says Smokescreen is available across the full HEMI-powered lineup.

Volkswagen adds Blackberry, Sacramento Green, and Sandstone to the 2027 Atlas. The returning colors are Deep Black Pearl, Mountain Lake Blue, Opal White, Pure Grey, and Silver Mist.

Nissan adds Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic to the 2027 Z. Nissan describes it as a modern take on the original 240Z Grand Prix Green. Heritage is the color story. The order sheet is the purchase story.

Which 2027 paint colors cost extra?

The confirmed extra paint price in these announcements is Dodge Smokescreen, listed at a U.S. MSRP of $595 for the 2027 Durango.

That number gives a useful boundary. A named new color does not automatically carry a surcharge. Volkswagen names three new Atlas colors, yet its announcement does not state a paint surcharge for them. It does list a $595 black wheel package, which is separate from paint. Do not turn option-package pricing into a paint price.

Chevrolet also cautions that prices and colors can vary by model. The 2027 Equinox starts at $29,300 and rises to listed starting MSRPs of $36,200 across the range. Toyota lists a $29,700 starting price for the 2027 Camry before dealer processing and handling. Those are vehicle starting prices, not proof that a chosen color is included.

Ask for three lines in writing: the base vehicle price, the paint or roof charge, and every package required by the selected appearance. This is the same discipline behind comparing pay, hours, and benefits in a part-time job offer. The headline number is not the whole cost.

Public announcements do not state a paint surcharge for every named 2027 color. Where the maker does not publish one, the dealer's live order screen is the source for the final build.

Do car colors look different in person than in online configurators?

Metallic, pearl, tricoat, matte, and color-shifting finishes need separate scrutiny, yet the supplied manufacturer announcements do not provide finish-type definitions or care requirements for every listed color. The safe fact is narrower: inspect the specific paint and combination being ordered.

Color is not a resale guarantee either. iSeeCars analyzed more than 1.2 million model-year 2022 used cars listed between August 2024 and May 2025. It found average three-year depreciation of 31.0% across all vehicles, compared with 24.0% for yellow, 24.4% for orange, and 26.3% for green. Gold posted 34.4% depreciation, while white and black posted 32.1% and 31.9%.

The same study warns against easy rules. Orange trucks depreciated 16.0%, green SUVs 28.8%, and green sedans 33.8%. A bright color can be scarce. Scarce is not the same as valuable.
